2018 Waiver Whispers – Week 10

Tyler Boyd(Rostered in less than 1% of NFL.com leagues)

Although A.J. Green will get all the glory, deservedly so, for his efforts Thursday night Tyler Boyd was able to match Green in targets with 9. All the noise in the offseason for the past two seasons has been for his teammate John Ross, but Tyler Boyd has been quietly very productive this year racking up 14 targets 9 receptions 117 yards and a TD in the first two weeks. If Cincinatti can continue their success on offense under Bill Lazor, Boyd could be a nice stash as the secondary receiving weapon.

Jarius Wright (Rostered in less than 1% of NFL.com leagues)

The largest beneficiary of Greg Olsen’s injury has been Christian McCaffrey. It was apparent as CMC racked up 15 targets. What was also apparent was that Jarius Wright is a player that Cam looked for in this game. Wright had 7 targets, catching 6 of them including a nice TD that he caught when he sat down in a soft spot in the Atlanta red zone defense. Wright is worth a look on rosters in need of WR help especially if he continues to be a safety net for Cam who is missing his biggest safety net of all in Olsen.

Calvin Ridley (Rostered in less than 11% of NFL.com leagues)

After not posting any numbers in the week one contest, the first round talent out of Alabama Calvin Ridley equaled Julio Jones for a team high 64 yards. Ridley did something though, not even Julio can seem to do and that was find the end zone on a pass from Matt Ryan. Although I don’t want to have to rely on Ridley week to week he is a player to keep an eye on as the season progresses especially if he continues to be a red zone target for Matty Ice.

Antonio Callaway (Rostered in less than 1% of NFL.com leagues)

Due to depth at the position and potentially for some of his off the field issues, Callaway was not worked on very many snaps in week one. He was, however targeted 4 times in week two catching three for 81 yards and a touchdown. The bulk of his day was made on a beautiful 47 yard strike by Tyrod Taylor. He has just as much possibility to boom or bust any given week but Callaway has legit upside as the deep threat on a Tyrod Taylor quarterbacked team.

Chris Ivory/Marcus Murphy

(Rostered in less than 1% of NFL.com leagues….combined)

I don’t feel good writing this, you don’t feel good reading it. Hear me out. LeSean McCoy is hurt and cracked rib cartilage sounds very painful. His days may be numbered and if you are hurting at RB(if you’re not, you will be) then you need to take a look at one or both of these guys as they could end up with some relevance if the Bills get their offense going, oh who am I kidding? Forget it!

Giovani Bernard (Rostered in less than 57% of NFL.com leagues)

Depending on your league size and bench depth Bernard may not be available and could only be a temporary solution as Joe Mixon is nursed to health after a knee procedure to clean up his knee. If he is available scoop him up Gio! Bernard has been with the team in these situations before and can be serviceable not only in relief but in the possibility that Mixon’s knee injury lingers.

Jesse James (Rostered in only 7% of NFL.com leagues)

The outlaw was running from Kansas City defenders like he was escaping an old western stage coach robbery! James hauled in 5 targets for a whopping 138 yards and a touchdown. He won’t have consistent games like this but could be featured more on a team that’s defense is not playing at a high level to start the year.

Theo Riddick (Rostered in less than 42% of NFL.com leagues)

Not a very attractive option as the third head in a committee on a bad team, but Theo Riddick did amass 9 catches on 12 targets for 47 yards. If you are desperate for RB help Theo could come in handy for ya.
